It was a fantastic week where students celebrated the joy of reading by participating in various activities and games. On Monday, the students took part in a Literary Truth or Dare game featuring their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see them impersonate these characters and share their passion with friends.

On Tuesday, the library was buzzing with excitement as they participated in the House Competition. It was a great success, with each House proudly represented. Our students truly amazed us with their incredible knowledge of books and manga! Congratulations to Morris and Seacole for earning a well-deserved first place!

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome author Christopher Edge. He led a creative writing workshop for some of our Year 9 students and then gave an engaging talk to the Year 7 and Year 8 classes. During his talk, the students participated in an interactive escape room, which was fantastic to witness! They demonstrated great teamwork, quick thinking, and problem-solving skills, all of which impressed the author.

Thursday was an absolutely fantastic World Book Day! Students arrived in the most creative and vibrant costumes, generating an atmosphere of excitement. Some standout outfits earned additional house points, including those of Dylan (Y8 Morris), Penny (Y7 Gibson), Bianca (Y7 Seacole), and Daphne (Y7 Butler). We also had some impressive staff costumes, including those of Ms. Susani (Seacole), Ms. Wise (Wilberforce), and Ms. Anes (Gibson).

We are confident that the memories from this day will stay with them for a long time. There are still opportunities to earn House Points with the creative writing competition and the Book Trifold competition, both of which have been extended until the end of term. As we prepare for the new term, we will also be celebrating the National Year of Reading with more exciting surprises. Additionally, book tokens are now available for collection from the library and must be used before March 15th.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Larizadeh
