As we begin this half term, I would like to share with you some of the exciting events taking place in school over the coming weeks.
We are delighted to be celebrating the National Year of Reading, with World Book Day next Thursday. We encourage all students to come dressed as their favourite book character. Please note that this is not a mufti day. Students should only attend out of uniform if they are making a clear and considerable effort to dress as a recognisable character from a book. This is not an opportunity to wear jogging bottoms or hoodies in place of school uniform. We very much look forward to seeing the creativity and enthusiasm that this day always brings.
The following week, we will be celebrating Science Week, during which students will have the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities linked to science. This is always a highlight of the term and a wonderful opportunity to spark curiosity and deepen learning.
We are also looking forward to our annual WPA Quiz, which will take place on 12th March at 7.00pm. This is always a fantastic evening and a great opportunity for parents, carers and families to come together for some friendly competition. We hope many of you will join us and perhaps even try to beat the teachers! All the information on how to sign up is in the newsletter.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your continued support regarding the recent “school wars” posts circulating online. These messages are being posted by individuals external to the school community and are not linked to our students.
It is important that you continue to send your child into school as normal and avoid creating unnecessary anxiety by suggesting they stay at home. The most effective way to discourage the spread of such posts is to continue with our usual routines and demonstrate that our school community remains calm, confident and united.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Larizadeh
