As we enter the final week of this half term, I’m pleased to say it has been a very successful start to the academic year. There is a real sense of purpose and positivity around the school, and it’s been wonderful to see so many students upholding our motto: Make a Difference.
This means making a difference to themselves — by working hard and making the most of opportunities — and making a difference to others through kindness, thoughtfulness, and community spirit.
Some highlights from this week include:
• Jack Petchey Awards: Congratulations to the five students who received this prestigious award for their achievements and contributions to school life. A fantastic reflection of their dedication and character.
• Black History Month Competition: Well done to Jai who won our school poster competition.
• Merton Cross Country Trials: Our students represented the school brilliantly, with six finishing in the top three across various year groups.
• Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Bronze: Year 9 students have made a strong start to their DofE journey with great enthusiasm. This is an excellent qualification that builds independence, teamwork, and resilience.
• Reading and Oracy Focus: Developing strong reading and speaking skills remains a key priority this year. We are excited to soon welcome Tola Okogwu, a highly successful author, to speak to our students.
We are looking forward to our curiosity days next week and there is further information in the newsletter.
Warm regards,
Mrs Larizadeh
