Mr Arnold did a great Remembrance Assembly this week which we showed in all of the classrooms. He reminded everyone about how important it is to pay respect and honour those who lost their life serving their country. It was particularly poignant as Mr Arnold served as an Army Officer in the British Army from 2008 to 2013 and told us about two colleagues and friends he had lost while serving in Afghanistan. Miss Pocock also spoke to the students about keeping themselves safe when they are coming to and from school and about our high expectations of them in the local community. We expect all students to be polite and courteous and be aware of others around them. Next week we have house meetings where each house will choose their house charity and plan activities they would like to do to raise money. We will have a Charity Week during the week of the 30th November. The houses will also be given their own time capsule which will be buried in the academy grounds for students to open in 50 years. They need to decide what they would like to place in it. I have sent a separate letter about uniform and PE Kit which you will find here Please can you talk to your child about what they need to bring and wear each day. It is made a bit more complicated with COVID as students cannot change on site. I have not changed the policy, just added black joggers as an optional item for any students who would like to wear them. Many students are enjoying playing football at break and lunchtime but from Monday, they must have moulded football boots to play on the surface as if not we will lose our guarantee. The students are working exceptionally hard and when I walk around the academy during lessons, I can see students engaged in their learning and enjoying lessons. I am delighted with their focus and progress. Have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Mrs Larizadeh
