Our motto is "Make a Difference", and I have been so proud of our students who both brought cakes in and bought cakes to eat as part of our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. There was a great buzz in the hall as the houses competed with each other to bake and sell the most cakes for Macmillan. I am so proud of the school community for ‘making a difference’ to the lives of people around us, by giving up their time and making contributions to a very important charity.

We have a busy run-up to half term, with our first Curiosity Days of the year on 15th and 16th October. Curiosity Days aim to foster a sense of curiosity in an area of the curriculum, and we have multiple trips and visits scheduled over the two days as well as exciting opportunities to develop curiosity about careers and academic endeavours. You will receive more information next week from the Heads of Year.

A focus for HAWI in 2025 is to develop confidence in speaking. We know our students leave school doing exceptionally well in their exams, but we also know that exam success is only part of the story to a successful career after school. Students will have opportunities to develop their public speaking in lessons, extra-curricular clubs, and competitions. Please encourage your children to take risks and join in with the opportunities we have created to develop their confidence as orators and communicators.

Best wishes for an enjoyable weekend,

Mrs Larizadeh
