It has been a beautiful, bright winter’s day today and ends what has been an excellent week.  The students have completed their first full week after the holidays and it has been delightful to see them have fun with their friends and enjoy being back at school.  In the Autumn term, we had a house competition to help us develop a new logo for the academy to represent all of the excellent work students and staff are doing to celebrate diversity. We want the logo to be a visual statement of our commitment to diversity.  There were four key strands that came out of the students ideas: Range of colours with green, black and yellow included, a handshake, the words diversity and proud, and links with the HAWI logo.  

I am meeting the student equality and diversity committee on Friday where they will make the final decision on the logo.

The WPA committee had an excellent meeting this week and they are busy organising a second hand uniform sale and a quiz night for later this term.  I’d like to thank them for their time in organising these opportunities, and I hope you are able to come to the quiz night.  There are some more details in the newsletter from the committee and the information about the quiz night will come out next week.
