Our house system is at the heart of our students’ lives at Harris Academy Wimbledon. The House Tutor groups are the basis of our pastoral system, and our students are building strong house communities through a rich offering of sporting competitions, subject competitions and charity events that run through the year. The ethos of our house system is built on two pillars: Competition and Collaboration. The students are motivated by a strong allegiance to their house; they want to help their house win the league and many of our competitions have an element of cross-year group participation. This week, the students will have house assemblies where they meet to discuss the competitions for this term and a strategy for winning the league. There are a lot of points given for attendance and achieving stamps, stickers and kudos in lessons. Please keep encouraging your child to come to school every day and to work hard in lessons so they can make a difference to the position of their house in the league. Each house will be putting together a time capsule that will be buried in the academy grounds when we have our official opening of the building later this academic year. Please discuss with them some ideas around what they can place in the time capsule.
We are really excited about the half term ahead and look forward to providing many opportunities beyond the curriculum.
