A BIG THANK YOU to the BRILLIANT Y9 students who volunteered in the Library as part of their DofE Award. They have processed 100s of books and carried out admin tasks at home while we were in lockdown. The new library would be nowhere near it is today without their help. https://t.co/Pse9BOtnCt

Year 9 spent their Deep Learning Day exploring Shakespeare. Starting with a performance and workshop they went on to create their own interpretations of the witches, engage with the more dramatic elements of the play and re-write their own, modern version. https://t.co/t0ncBUUzf2

Library lessons this week involve discussing the Carnegie Medal shortlisted titles, using the cover, blurb and first page as the starting point. Today's class favoured "The Girl Who Speaks Bear", but there's been a wide range of winners across the different classes. https://t.co/cdfRQylIpx

The sunshine came out just in time for our school visits this week.  Our last visits were in the Autumn term of 2020 and I am so pleased that we were able to resume school trips this term.  Learning in different settings gives students the opportunity to experience new places and broaden their horizons and knowledge.  In June, each year group will have two outdoor activity days and we will provide more information after the half term holiday.

We also enjoyed welcoming Breis, a performance poet and rapper, Young Shakespeare theatre company who provided an excellent performance of scenes from Macbeth and Year 7 deepened their knowledge and understanding of different careers.  The students have worked incredibly hard this half term and we are proud of all their achievements.

I hope the sun keeps shining over half term and everyone manages to get some rest.

Best wishes for a lovely half term,

Mrs Larizadeh
