Tuesday afternoons: LAB and Enrichment

From 2pm on a Tuesday HAWI6 students will take part in a series of enrichment opportunities which will broaden their horizons and provide them with experiences that they will carry with them into university and beyond. The afternoons comprise three distinct but related activities:

  1. Learning Above and Beyond (LAB) time: this is a programme designed by the Director of Sixth from made up of lectures and talks by a range of experts. Themes covered include UCAS and careers, as well as subject lectures focusing on specific areas of the curriculum which will stretch and challenge students thinking.

  1. Enrichment: this is time for students to take part in extra-curricular opportunities. HAWI6 students choose the enrichment that most appeals to them, for example Model United Nations, the school magazine, and Duke of Edinburgh.

  1. King’s Lectures: our partnership with King’s College School enables our students the chance to attend weekly lectures hosted in the Great Hall at KCS. Students wishing to attend simply make their way to KCS, show their ID at reception, and join the lecture.

It is our intention that, in engaging whole heartedly in the Tuesday afternoon programme, HAWI6 students will have a plethora of experiences from which to make informed decisions about their future pathways.

The 2023-24 enrichment programme includes:

  • Combined Cadet Force

  • Conversational Spanish

  • Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award

  • LAMDA

  • Model United Nations

  • School Magazine

  • STEM club

  • Leadership Enrichment (in which sixth formers work with teachers to deliver enrichment to students in the Lower School)
