Enrichment at Harris Academy Wimbledon
Enrichment at HAWI is a core, inclusive programme of timetabled activities, clubs, trips and immersive experiences that develops students’ skills, confidence and aspirations beyond the classroom, preparing them for future success.
Our Vision
Our enrichment programme is a core part of the Harris Academy Wimbledon experience. We aim to ensure that every student develops a strong foundation of knowledge, a love of learning, well-developed skills and the confidence to use them.
Through a wide range of inclusive and carefully planned experiences, students expand their horizons, raise their aspirations and deepen their engagement, while developing essential skills such as teamwork, problem solving and communication.
Enrichment is designed to support broader personal development and connect meaningfully to the curriculum, preparing all students for life and work by building resilience, agency and a strong sense of belonging.
Through strong links with the wider community and a coherent programme across all key stages, we ensure equitable access to high-quality opportunities that support wellbeing, attainment and future success, particularly for disadvantaged and high-needs students.
Enrichment Entitlement
All students at Harris Academy Wimbledon will experience throughout the year:

Making a difference - The impact for our students:
Low-risk, fun exploration during timetabled enrichment activities, memorable curriculum moments on trips and clubs build a love of school.
Teamwork, problem-solving, communication and practical skills are built into enrichment; skill focused clubs provide even more practice.
Rewards, leadership opportunities and performances in clubs & competitions promote self-esteem and build self-confidence
Trips, King’s College School partnerships, university visits, expeditions, residentials, competitions and inter-year activities broaden experiences & ambition for our students.
Mentoring programmes, our careers programme, curiosity days lectures and external visitors raise our expectations and exposure to future goals
All students participate in at least one club, one enrichment and multiple trips/curiosity days
Alongside our careers & work experience, enrichment develops the resilience, skills and confidence to students for success at work.
Building HAWI Futures through Enrichment
Enrichment builds skills and confidence for the future. Tuesday enrichment provides regular skill development; exploring interests & careers linked to subjects. Curiosity week / days give collapsed timetables to provide deep dives into specific sectors/themes, including career focused days and work experience in Y10 & 12. Extra-curricular clubs allow our students to demonstrate to future employers sustained commitment and transferable skills. The journey is ambitious, fulfilling and uniquely their own; students can build their identity to prepare them for the workplace.
Through varied teams, clubs, house identity and shared experience in enrichment; students enjoy themselves & know they are a part of our school.

Financial, SEND, and tutor support; alongside the massive range of clubs, trips and experiences means that no students are left out.
The universal entitlement and expectation to attend provides to students every opportunity to grow and succeed at Harris Academy Wimbledon.
SEND and Enrichment
SEND inclusion in Enrichment is an essential part of HAWI. Sign up support from TA’s, communication with parents, flexibility in moving clubs, “buddying up” with a friend, making enrichment a predictable routine and our huge array of options mean that our SEND students are supported and thrive- building confidence and independence. Enrichment on Tuesdays continues with in-class support and teachers are aware of support plans. All trips consider our SEND students in the planning; additional support is given through TA’s & specialist staff: no-one misses out.
