Exceptional GCSE results

Over 32% of all GCSE entries at Harris Academy Wimbledon were awarded a grade 7 or more, with a fifth at grades 8 and 9.

The top performing subject was Latin, where all students secured at least a grade 7 and half achieved a 9.

60% of students achieved a Grade 5 or higher in English and maths, significantly higher than the national average.

Among those celebrating is Lina, with nine grade 9s. English is Lina’s second language, making her exceptional performance across such a broad range of subjects all the more impressive.

With four grade 9s and four 8s, Liza also has a remarkable set of results. Liza joined Harris Academy Wimbledon from Ukraine in 2023, speaking English as an additional language. In just three years at the academy, she has made extraordinary progress.

Jo Larizadeh, Principal of Harris Academy Wimbledon, said:

“We have an exceptional set of GCSE results, reflecting the qualities of the exceptional group of young people in Year 11. Some, such as Lina and Liza, have secured top grades despite English not being their first language. I look forward to seeing them and the rest of their year group thrive in our sixth form and beyond.”
