It has been great to welcome all of the students back this week. They have settled back in very quickly and special mention must go to Year 7 who are adapting to the routines of secondary school life very well indeed. It has been a pleasure to welcome them all to the HAWI community. We also welcome some new staff and I wish them well in their new roles; you can find a full staff list on our website. Extracurricular activities are a really important part of life at HAWI and they will begin next week. I am sure you would like to join me in thanking all the staff for providing these wonderful opportunities. All students in Years 7-9 must do at least one after school activity each week and Year 10s must do at least one for a term. Year 10s have made a great start to their GCSEs and are focused, as ever, on their work. It is important that they work hard but also enjoy themselves and keep up with all their hobbies and activities.
I am delighted that many of the covid restrictions in schools have reduced but we still must be careful. We are pleased to be opening our doors to parents, carers and visitors but for larger events in the hall, we will be asking for evidence of negative lateral flow tests so we can hold the evenings with the lowest risk as possible.
I am looking forward to a busy, productive and happy year ahead.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Larizadeh
